Brooklands race track, in Weybridge, Surrey, was Britain’s first purpose built motorsport facility, instigated by Hugh Fortescue Locke King, though greatly assisted by his wife Ethel, who helped bring her husband’s dream to fruition and also saved him from bankruptcy.
